What is National Dine Out Day?

National Dine Out Day is a national program that asks restaurants to participate in supporting the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.  It will take place on June 19, 2013.  New Jersey’s First Lady, Mary Pat Christie chairs the Fund and is leading the efforts in the National Dine Out Day program.

How will proceeds help the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund?

The Fund supports organizations that aid in the recovery and rebuilding efforts of New Jersey communities impacted by the storm.  Hurricane Sandy impacted over 140,000 small businesses.  To date, the Fund has raised $34 million from over 28,000 donors worldwide in addition to making 51 Grants totaling $11 million to help families, business, and communities rebuild.

Why does the Fund need help now?

There is still much work to be done and the Fund aims to make a sustainable, long-term impact and focuses on programs that address the unmet needs of New Jersey communities.  National Dine Out Day is a great way for restaurants and their patrons to support these continuing efforts.

How do restaurants participate in the fundraising efforts?

Contributions from restaurants to National Dine Out Day will benefit the Fund.  Restaurants can choose to contribute in several ways.

  • 50% of sales from 6/19/13
  • 25% of sales from 6/19/13
  • 15% of sales from 6/19/13
  • Daypart proceeds - Breakfast 6am-10am
  • Daypart proceeds - Lunch 11am-2pm
  • Daypart proceeds - Dinner 5pm-8pm
  • Coupon Card
  • Other restaurant-specific contributions

How do restaurant partners get started?

Please visit www.nationaldineoutday.com to sign up and participate in the National Dine Out Day program.  In the Toolkit section, there is a sign up form that needs to be completed by the restaurant.  Once the terms and conditions have been accepted, the form will be sent to the Fund for review and confirmation. 

How will people know that my restaurant is participating in National Dine Out Day?

The website will have a restaurant locator that will list all participating locations by state.  Merchandising elements will also communicate National Dine Out Day to encourage repeat business on that day.

How does a restaurant promote June 19th?

We’ve developed a set of merchandising elements that are housed on the website – under the Toolkit section.  There, restaurant partners can download hires art files of standard POS elements for display in their outlet.  Files are supplied free of charge but production of elements will be the responsibility of the restaurant.  Promotional items can be displayed in outlet starting June 1, 2013 and can be removed on June 20, 2013.  Merchandising elements include:
